Niagara College Golf Classic Tees Off September 15

Aug 10, 2009

Limited spaces are still available for the Niagara College Foundation’s 2009 Niagara College Golf Classic, which will tee off at noon on Tuesday, September 15, at Thundering Waters Golf Course in Niagara Falls – a John Daly Signature Course.

The annual tournament will use 100 per cent of the funds raised in support of the Building Futures Campaign for scholarships and bursaries for Niagara College students. The Ontario Trust for Student Support will match every $1.00 raised by at least $1.00, increasing the impact of the event.

“Events like these create a world of opportunity for students who would otherwise be unable to attend college and pursue their dreams,” said Sean Kennedy, Vice-President of Student Services and Community Relations, Niagara College, and CEO of the Niagara College Foundation. “This tournament is a great opportunity to support a very worthy cause while playing one of the region’s top golf courses.”

The entry fee for the tournament is $200 per golfer and includes 18 holes of golf, a cart with GPS, select competitions, barbecue lunch, wine and cheese reception, banquet-style dinner, gift pack and the opportunity to participate in a professional golf clinic – spots for the clinic are limited, and are on a first-come, first-served basis.

Tournament information, schedule and registration forms are available online at www.niagaracollege.ca/golfclassic.

More than 2,000 scholarships and bursaries have been given to Niagara College’s 7,500 students in 2008/09, thanks in large measure to those who support events like the Niagara College Golf Classic, which generate funds for student scholarships and bursaries.

With 7,500 full-time students and 15,000 Continuing Education students, Niagara College offers more than 90 post-secondary diploma, certificate and degree programs, and features skills and apprenticeship training at campuses in Welland, Niagara-on-the-Lake and Niagara Falls. Areas of specialization include hospitality and tourism, technology and community safety. Niagara College is home to the globally recognized Niagara Culinary Institute and Canada’s first commercial teaching winery. For more information, visit www.NiagaraCollege.ca.
