NC opens Employment and Training Solutions in downtown St. Catharines

Niagara College officially opened its Employment and Training Solutions offices Nov. 19 in downtown St. Catharines, providing a one-stop resource centre for individuals seeking employment services.

Located at One St. Paul Street, Niagara College Employment and Training Solutions offers a full range of employment services funded by Employment Ontario.

“This is an opportunity for us to bring our employment services under one roof, and to enhance the services we provide,” said Niagara College President Dan Patterson. “Niagara College is uniquely suited to provide provincially-funded employment services, and to help potential employees and employers connect.”

Employment services are available to any unemployed individual, and the offices will serve as a job resource and information centre that will provide access to computers, Internet, fax machines and copiers for job searching, information of current trends and available training options. No appointments are necessary and drop-ins are welcome.

Other services available include one-on-one guidance from experienced employment consultants, career assessments, workshops and job matching and placement. The offices will also house the Selp Employment Benefit Program, which provides assistance in the planning and development of a self-employment plan.

Niagara College Employment and Training Solutions is part of the College’s Workforce and Business Development Division, which provides programs and services for business and the community. In addition to employment services, the Workforce and Business Development Division includes the Business Development Centre, short-term and contract training, and labour market research.

With 9,000 full-time students, Niagara College offers more than 90 diploma, baccalaureate degrees and advanced level programs at campuses in Welland, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara Falls and St. Catharines. Areas of specialization include food and wine sciences, advanced technology, applied health and community safety, supported by unique learning enterprises in food, wine, beer, horticulture and esthetics.
