We are pleased to announce that Vivian Kinnaird is Niagara College’s new Dean of Business, Hospitality and Tourism, effective August 8, 2011.
Since 2008, Vivian has held the position of Dean, Faculty of Business and Law at the University of Sunderland in the UK, a portfolio that shares a mix of business, hospitality and tourism. University of Sunderland is a new university within the UK, with a mandate that includes both a strong connection to industry and a large access mandate.
From 2001 to 2008, Vivian held the position of Associate Dean, Resources and Business Development in the Faculty of Business and Law. Prior to this, Vivian held a number of teaching positions in areas of Humanities and Social Sciences and Geography.
Vivian pursued her post-secondary education at the University of Waterloo where she received her Bachelors (ES) in 1986 and Masters in Geography in 1988. Her academic achievements include co-writing books on Tourism: A Gender Analysis and Different Places, Different Voices: Gender and Development in Africa, Asia and Latin America. Other publications include book chapters on tourism, ecotourism; tourism recreation research and town and country planning.
