Niagara College is bridging the gap between students and the community. Encouraging college students to pursue local philanthropic opportunities, two volunteer fairs will be held at Niagara College this month – one at the Welland Campus on Thursday, September 22 and another at the NOTL campus on Tuesday, September 27.
The event, hosted by the college’s Co-op and Graduate Employment Services office, not only helps students become more involved in the community, but assists them with making new connections and enhancing their resumes with valuable experience.
With several of the college’s programs requiring students to complete community hours, the fairs provide a forum for students and organizations to meet and learn more about one another. Those attending the events will have the opportunity to speak with representatives and volunteers from a variety of Niagara-based organizations/agencies. Applications will be available at the event along with information about volunteer requirements.
Niagara College has been hosting volunteer fairs for the past five years.
The Welland Campus event will be held on Thursday, September 22, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the main foyer.
Attendees will include Alzheimer Society of Niagara Region, Autism Ontario-Niagara, Best Buddies Canada, Bethlehem Housing and Support Services, Big Brothers/Sisters Niagara Falls and South Niagara, CAA Winter Festival of Lights, Canadian Cancer Society-Niagara, Centre de Sante Communautaire de Hamilton/Niagara, Community Care St. Catharines & Thorold, Community Living Welland/Pelham, Community Living – St. Catharines, Community Support Services of Niagara, Distress Centre Niagara, Hope Furniture Bank, Hospice Niagara, Information Niagara, Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara Region, Loyalist Retirement Residence, Port Cares, Prime Time Living – St. Catharines Place, and Student 2 Future.
