Update Re: Missing Student

The Niagara College community is mourning the loss of an International student from China, who went missing after entering the Niagara River on May 26. The student’s body was recovered near Lewiston, N.Y., on June 1 by the United States Coast Guard. Niagara College is honouring his family’s request that he not be identified publicly.

The student had completed the New Media Web Design program and was to graduate this Spring.

During the search, staff from Niagara College worked closely with the student’s family, the Niagara Regional Police Service and the Chinese Consulate. Counseling services have been made available for any students or staff who require assistance.

The Niagara College community extends its heartfelt condolences to the student’s family at this difficult time. The College flags will be lowered to honour the student’s memory.
